John Preece of Aymestrey maried Alice Edwards and settled in Leintwardine. The
1891 census indicates that the household had 2 sons..Charles and John, and 3 daughters..Eva, Chrissy and Olive. The 1901 census shows 5 more sons Elijah, Harley, Oswald, Grafton and Arthur .

Charles: Mother Alice was expecting again and Charles thought there was enough
children in the house so he ran away to sea before he was sixteen. However he did not like the Navy and his mother bought him out and he became a thatcher

At the time of writing nothing is known of John

Eva married George William Douthwaite, a Labourer from Breconshire at St. Mary
Magdalene Church Leintwardine on 23rd December 1903. The records state their ages as being 18 and 25 respectively. They moved to Bamford, Derbyshire where George worked on the construction of the Derwent Reservoir.
Coincidentally her brother Elijah moved to Buxton, Derbyshire to work on the construction of the Stanley Moor Reservoir...perhaps they moved at the same time and maybe Elijah and George were friends! Contact was
lost after the family moved to Astley in Manchester.

Chrissy married William Jones, a Baker of Lentwardine at St. Mary Magdalene Church
Leintwardine on 20th December 1905. The records state their ages as being 17 and 24 respectively. She died in childbirth having her second child. Apparently this caused William to "go strange" and was locked up

Olive died at the tender age of 25 months.

Harley (also known as Jimmy) moved to Burnley in Lancashire with his brother Arthur
(also known as Harry) to work on the construction of reservoirs . There he married Nellie Maddran but there is no evidence of any children. In 1953 he attended the funeral of Elijah accompanied by Myrtle, however
nothing is known of that relationship. Arthur married Nellie's sister, Elizabeth, and their offspring are recorded on this site.
