THE DESCENDANTS OF ELIJAH PREECE

Elijah Preece, who preferred to be known as "Jack",  was born in Leintwardine in 1892.  The earlier 1891 census indicates that the household had  2 other brothers..John and Charles and 3 sisters..Eva, Chrissy and Olive.  These  facts are proved by church records which coincide with known family history.

The 1901 census confirms the existence of four more   brothers: Harley, Oswald, Grafton and Arthur. Harley and Arthur moved to Burnley. In December 1917 Oswald married MissStanton in Ludlow. Eva  married George William Douthwaite of Cray and moved to Bamford in Derbyshire  before moving to Astley. Little is known of the others.

Elijah Preece moved to Buxton to work on the construction of Stanley Moor Reservoir, before marrying Annie Amelia Chiles in September 1914.

Elijah and Amelia, known as Milly to family and friends, settled in Buxton and had two sons, Ronald and Dennis, and two daughters, Marjorie and Dorothy. Only Dennis survives. This Website is dedicated to the descendants of "Jack" and "Milly".

Elijah Preece married Annie Amelia Chiles at the  Unitarian Church, Buxton on 20th September 1914.
